2.5 Literacy and numeracy strategies

Apply knowledge and understanding of effective teaching strategies to support students’ literacy and numeracy achievement.

“The Melbourne Declaration on Educational Goals for Young Australians (MCEETYA 2008) recognises literacy as an essential skill for students in becoming successful learners and as a foundation for success in all learning areas.” (ACARA, 2012)

Recognising the importance of numeracy and literacy in the repetoire of all learners is paramount is developing into a well-rounded citizen; overall numeracy and literacy help to develop successful and self-evaluating learners. Also in becoming confident, creative and self-sufficent individuals aswell as informed and active individuals, citizens, members of a community and workers.

The attached evidence is an assessment on the value of teaching numeracy and literacy and includes unit outlines on teaching both in the Civics and Citizenship method.
